Concertos L are back!
Hosted by Estalagem da Ponta do Sol, this festival showcases new musical trends and takes place every year between July and September.
Here you can find the best of what’s new in Portugal, Portuguese-speaking countries like Brazil and Cape Verde, and also in other countries. You can go to a Fado concert while next week you may be seeing a rock, Jazz or electronics concert, or even experiencing the most experimental, recent music. This festival has created its own identity, both at the regional and national level, by presenting national debuts every year.
There will be 10 concerts between the beginning of July and the last Saturday of September. These concerts are taking place on Saturdays and occasionally on Wednesdays, always at 10 pm.
Brazil, Canada, USA, Spain, The Netherlands, Taiwan and, of course, Portugal are the countries that will be represented in the gardens of Estalagem da Ponta do Sol in 2019.
An eclectic, bold and strict schedule where the perception of melody and music is always challenging but also generates curiosity and attention among the audience.
This Festival takes place at Estalagem da Ponta do Sol that locates 80 meters above the centre of Ponta do Sol and has a privileged view over the town and sea. This natural landscape is an amazing scenario that works as a background for concerts.
The festival Concertos L has promoted the exclusive debut of some bold projects in Madeira, and is always seeking new trends and what’s best in several musical genres by focusing on Portuguese singing, whether this music is made in Portugal or in another Portuguese-speaking country, like the Portuguese-speaking African countries or Brazil. António Zambujo, JP Simões, Dead Combo, Mão Morta, Tcheka, Samuel Úria, B Fachada, Rão Kyao, A Naifa, Filho da Mãe, Silva, Carmen Souza (nominated for a Grammy), among others, are examples of artists that have made their debut in this region.
In addition to Portuguese artists, the several editions of Concertos L have also received many emblematic international names like the national debut of Bianca Casady (CocoRosie) and Sevdaliza. Names like Imogen Heap, winner of a Grammy award; the living legend Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth; Mor Karbasi, one of Israel’s divas; Michael Rother from Kraftwerk; Dirty Beaches, among others, have also performed in this festival.
Entrances require a minimum consumption of 7€ at the bar. Names must be included in the guest list. Registration can be made via the registration form of each concert at www.pontadosol.com, Facebook page of Estalagem da Ponta do Sol or email email@example.com.
