3. Boat Trips
Whether you choose a yacht or a Catamaran for a stroll in the sea, you can discover the limestone caves, the Zimbralinho beach and see dolphins or sea turtles. Get to know the impressive biodiversity of the flora, fauna and geology of the Porto Santo island. Look closely at the prismatic forms of the Ana Ferreira Peak, the dunes, the natural drawings made by the volcanic lava on the Morenos cliffs, the dragon trees and the vineyards. Watch birds like the Kentish plover (Charadrius alexandrinus) that flies above the waves. Observe flowers like the “doiradinha” (Senecio incrassatus), endemic to Macaronesia. During the tour visit Quinta das Palmeiras (botanical garden) and the traditional Casa da Serra, where you can taste local pastries and drinks. The Miradouros das Flores and Portela are obligatory stops. Enjoy hiking in the paths of the Vereda do Pico Castelo, Vereda do Pico Branco and Terra Chã.
