Climbing the highest peaks of the island is one of the most eagerly awaited experiences in the destination. The highest peak of Madeira is Pico Ruivo at 1,862 meters, followed by Pico das Torres (1,851 meters) and Pico do Areeiro (1,818 meters).
The Pico do Areeiro – Pico Ruivo trail is a unique walk, always different with each step. Depending on the season, time of day / night, and weather conditions, the landscape changes significantly, but the surprise effect is always present.
There are days when the clouds seem to dance around the peaks, exposing the azure sky; on others much rarer days, the peaks are covered in snow.
Depending on the time of day, there are a thousand and one colours that light the way and fill the scene with light. It is particularly special at sunrise / sunset: a romantic and powerful scenery.
